Secret Treasures of Black House: Chapter 1

New Beginnings

One crisp autumn day at the old Black House a silver BMW pulled up in the driveway of the house. It was followed shortly after by a removal van. A girl of 12 stepped out of the silver BMW and sighed heavily.
"A new house, all because of a new stupid job, you have to take" She groaned looking at her mum.
"Stop complaining and take the boxes up to your room." The girl's mother ordered to the girl. Just as they were discussing rooms, a boy of 14 stepped climbed out of the car and took his boxes.
"Come on Mai, let's choose our rooms." The boy suggested to his younger sister as he walked up the cobble path to the house. Mai reluctantly followed him, although the house brought eerie feelings for the pair. The corridors had peeling wallpaper and the rooms looked burnt out. The kitchen had missing tiles and cracked worktops. Mai and her brother, Luke, followed the long dark corridor around the house and they stopped and looked up.

The pair had stopped at the bottom of some crooked stairs and looked up and saw a long, dark landing with twists and turns.
"We need to do this place up, re-painting and tiling, I'll start now." Their dad said to the pair who had followed them through the house. Mai went up the stairs first and turned left. There were two bedrooms opposite each other and a locked doorway.
"That must lead to the Attic." Luke said to Mai.

Luke ran into the bedroom on the left, so that left Mai with the room on the right. It took the rest of the weekend to get everything into the rooms and painted and at 5 o'clock on the Sunday evening Sue called everyone for dinner. The house soon felt like home.

The dinner wasn't exciting, as it was only a take-away Chinese. They sat in silence and watched TV. It was Luke's choice of Skyfall and Mai just sat on her iPod until it finished. She was dreading her first day at school as she wasn't with her friends and it was a new school, so she didn't know her way around. She went to bed feeling sick and thinking about what was to come.
