Adventure Into The Unknown

Adventure Into The Unknown
Chapter 1: Our home, Derus

It's been ten years, exactly since what happened on Omegi. I mean we had a whole memorial day at school for it. Dom was in charge of laying down the flowers for our year. Dom's my twin brother and other best friend in the family. He is tall, with dark brown hair. He also has dreamy blue eyes according to my close friends. A lot has happened in ten years. Let's start after the invasion.

After a long flight from Omegi, we were evacuated to a small planet called Derus. Derus was a mixture between a sand planet and a water planet. Our new village was on the sand half. My dad was running the cafe there, and my mum decided to become a nurse for the Triforce. That's our way of fighting against the Exo Squadron. However things went downhill. Our parents started arguing and eventually my mum packed up and left. My dad had always told me that her work needed her on another planet, so she thought that it would be safe to leave us here. It had only been two months of living on this new planet, and now I was without a mum and my older siblings.

A year later, my dad remarried someone called Michelle. She was nice enough and she also worked at the cafe. She already had three children from a previous relationship, so you could say that they were my step-siblings. Two of them were older than me, which made me more reserved. I didn't want new siblings at the time. I wanted my older siblings back.

Anyway, we are now back in the present. Dom and I are both sixteen. Chris had just turned thirteen, Ry is eleven and Robbie was ten. Poor Robbie. He doesn't remember my sister singing in the morning or my brothers constantly fighting. He doesn't remember much at all. He has heard all of the stories though.

After the memorial finished, we walked back to our house and brought out some pictures. We do this every single year. All of the pictures were taken before ten years ago. I still get tears in my eyes when I see my older sisters' faces.
"Who's that?" Robbie asked. He always forgets what they were called and we have to constantly remind him who they are, but we don't mind.
"The taller one is Zach, he was eleven but he would now be twenty-one. Next to him is Max, his twin. She would also be twenty-one now. There's Josh, who was nine when this happened. He would now be nineteen. And there's Eliza, she was only eight and now would be eighteen." I paused. Eliza was one of my favourites in the family. She would always look out for me. And we use to have to share a room. I miss her the most.

Half an hour later, our three step-siblings marched in. They only come on week-ends, as they live with their dad. Mark is the eldest, as he is nineteen, the same age Josh would have been. Izzi is the middle and she's seventeen. Then there's Paul, who's fourteen. They are alright, besides the fact that they always get me into trouble with my dad for anything.
"Hey Bex, did you go to the hover race yesterday, I swear I saw you racing." Izzi asked me, I had to be cautious because of the last time I went to the races.
"No, but if your mum finds out that you went she'll be gutted that you had lied to her about your whereabouts." That blackmail had landed me in huge trouble. Not just for blackmailing, but for racing yesterday. In punishment, I had to go droid shopping.

The droid depot is where everyone gets house droids from. They can also be used for businesses. Ours are used for the cafe mainly, but they sometimes come home. Our recent droid had just broken, so my dad and I set off to buy a new one. Once we got to the depot, I saw the perfect one.
"I am XE-350 at your service." It had said walking over.
"What services can you provide for a cafe?" My dad asked the silver droid.
"I can easily take orders, as I have an impeccable memory, and I have the ability to speak many languages to your different types of customers." XE replied. The droid spoke in a calmly manner and was cautious of what to say.
"We'll take this one, Bex can you please go and choose an AD unit?" My dad asked me and I nodded in return. As I walked over to all of the AD units, I started to make mental notes about each of them.
"I think this unit will do." I said to the salesman and the AD-400 unit had started to follow me. It was apparent that AD and XE had already met each other.

As I was cleaning the AD unit, I asked XE,
"Who were your previous owners?" However, XE looked ashamed to say.
"We were placed undercover in the Exo Squadron base. By the Triforce." XE had finally said. I was shocked and curious to know more.
"I heard what you said XE," Dom had said as he came into my room. "But please answer this. Did you see any of the troops without their helmets on?" He continued to speak.
"I'm sorry Master Dom, but we didn't. We were placed undercover." At that point, Chris, Ry and Robbie were also in my room.
"What were you looking for?" Chris had asked. She had always been curious since the disappearance of our older siblings.
“Plans for the- “ The droid went silent, cutting off his last sentence. We could tell that he wasn’t supposed to reveal anything. We knew how secretive the Triforce were and that they couldn’t reveal anything. Maybe it was because our mum had said that she was sworn to secrecy and that we couldn’t see her, as it would endanger everyone. I secretly knew that she didn’t want to lose us and had wanted to protect us.

As the sun was coming down over our home, I sat on the roof and thought to myself about what the droids had revealed. What if they had seen my siblings? And what if they were hiding more information from us.

Adventure Into The Unknown - Prologue

Adventure Into The Unknown
Prologue

Where I lived was once a beautiful planet. It was covered in grass and it had lots of nature. There was a forest by my house with a huge lake in the middle. In the summer, I use to walk up to the lake with my siblings and we use to go swimming in the lake. Our parents didn't mind, as long as we all stuck together. There were nine of us altogether, including myself. I had four older siblings and four younger siblings. My older siblings always cared for us, especially when it was just us lot alone. My younger siblings always make us smile and laugh.

One day we had decided to go out, just us nine. What we didn't know was that it was going to be the last time that we were all going to be together. As we set back to the house after a long day out building dens in the wood, my sister decided that it was getting late and we should head back. I traipsed back to the house while holding my sister's hand. I had a huge refusal to head back, I wanted to stay out for longer. If we did stay, then this story wouldn't have existed. However that wasn't the case.

At the forest clearing, I could see the fear in my siblings eyes.
"Stay here, we'll be back." My brother told my younger siblings and I. He nodded to our older siblings and they ran off. We ran back to the dens, but as I looked over my shoulder for our siblings I could see the destruction that was happening. It was them. The Exo Squadron. They were soldiers that were made up of cyborgs. They were once humans, but the Exo Squadron takes them away at any age and makes them forget who they were and then train them to be soldiers. It's everyone's nightmare.

After an hour of waiting and waiting, we decided to head back home. That's when we witnessed it happening. Our older siblings were being taken away by the Exo Squadron troops.
"NO! BRING THEM BACK! COME BACK!" I shouted at the soldiers, running after their ship. I had tears streaming down my eyes as the ship took off. I dropped to my knees and broke down. As I went back towards where we lived, I could see ashes and remains of my childhood home. Our planet soon became uninhabitable and we had to move. I had the weight of being the oldest on my shoulders as I soon realised that my older siblings weren't coming back.
